I am a climate scientist specialising in the cryosphere (the icy parts of the world). I’m based at the University of Exeter. My research has focused on ice sheet dynamics, sea level rise, Earth-system tipping points, and I’m currently working on Arctic permafrost as part of the ESA-funded PREDICT project.
Alongside academic research, I attempt to bridge the gap between science and policy. I was previously Antarctica Director at the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative, where I helped secure recognition of the cryosphere in COP agreements. I have also worked with the World Economic Forum on communicating climate risk to business leaders.
In the UK, I support cross-party consensus on climate action through advisory work and public engagement, and I sit on the advisory council of the Conservative Environment Network.
I write on climate science and climate risk for various media outlets and give public talks on the cryosphere. Please contact me regarding research collaborations, advisory roles, speaking requests or media enquiries.
